The SEEN Framework for Neuro-Inclusive Dog Businesses

My unique SEEN Framework is my neuro-inclusive lens for understanding people, dogs, and businesses before change is ever asked for.

It ensures that individuals feel genuinely seen, not just assessed, and that recommendations are grounded in real-life capacity, not assumptions.

This framework underpins my neuro-inclusive business audit and informs how I support neurodivergent people and their dogs across all of my services.

What does SEEN stand for?

The SEEN Framework is built around four core pillars that help identify what truly matters when creating neuro-inclusive spaces for people and their dogs.

It is designed to support understanding before change.

S – Self

Who is showing up.

This pillar considers the human element within the situation. It acknowledges that each person brings their own identity, capacity, experiences, goals, and ways of communicating into the space.

Understanding the self helps ensure expectations and support are aligned with the person, not imposed upon them.

E – Environment

The context everything happens within.

This pillar looks at how spaces, structures, routines, and expectations are set up. Environments can either reduce pressure or unintentionally create barriers, particularly for neurodivergent people and their dogs.

Small changes to the environment can have a significant impact on accessibility and success.

E – Emotions

The emotional impact of the environment.

This pillar acknowledges how environments affect emotional experiences for both humans and dogs, individually and together. Emotions influence confidence, behaviour, learning, and connection.

Rather than being ignored, emotional responses are recognised as valuable information.

N – Needs

What needs supporting right now.

This pillar focuses on identifying what would make the situation more accessible, sustainable, or supportive in the moment. Needs may shift over time and are considered in context rather than assumed.

The aim is to reduce unnecessary strain and support progress without overwhelm.

How the SEEN Framework is used

The SEEN Framework is my neuro-inclusive lens, not a step-by-step method.

It is used to:

  • Understand lived experiences
  • Identify unseen barriers
  • Inform thoughtful, realistic recommendations

This framework underpins my neuro-inclusive business audit and informs my wider work with people and their dogs.
