Come and sit around the campfire with me.
If you’ve spent any time in my world, you may have heard me talk about The Campfire.
You might hear it in my keynote talks.
You might find it woven through my books.
It appears in my coaching, my workshops, my podcast, my membership, my website and my writing.
The Campfire isn’t a physical place… at least, not yet 😉.
It’s the name I’ve given to the environment I try to create in everything I do.
Whether I’m speaking on stage, teaching a webinar, writing a book or simply sharing something I’ve noticed, my hope is always the same:
To create a place where people feel safe enough to be themselves, curious enough to ask questions, confident enough to think differently and supported enough to discover their own next step.
The Campfire
Imagine we’re sitting outside. The dogs are happily doing what dogs do, the fire is crackling and nobody is in a rush. Nobody is trying to prove anything. Nobody has to be perfect.
Around a campfire, something different happens.
People tell stories.
People ask questions.
People become curious.
People listen.
People notice things they hadn’t noticed before.
People feel safe enough to think.
People don’t grow because they’re given information.
They grow because they’ve found an environment where they feel safe enough to be themselves, curious enough to ask questions and confident enough to discover a different way of seeing things.
That’s the feeling I want every part of my work to create.
Not just when I’m speaking.
But in every book I write.
Every workshop I deliver.
Every coaching conversation.
Every podcast episode.
Every piece of content I share.
Every community I build.
The campfire is the environment.
Everything else happens around it.
Where it began
For years I thought I had to walk somebody else’s path.
I thought success meant following the trail other people had already made.
Their marketing.
Their way of teaching.
Their definition of success.
The more I tried to walk somebody else’s path, the further away I felt from myself.
Then something changed.
Writing my second book gave me permission to stop chasing somebody else’s version of success and start building something that felt genuinely like me.
Around the same time, my young dog, Quest, was teaching me something too.
Not through words.
Through observation.
Through slowing down.
Through curiosity.
Through noticing the smallest things.
He lit a tiny spark that suddenly made sense of the last 11 years I had spent in the dog world.
Looking back, that was the moment everything began to change.
Not a dramatic breakthrough.
Just a quiet realisation that some of the most important understanding comes from slowing down, paying attention and giving ourselves permission to notice.
That tiny spark didn’t stay tiny for long.
It found its way into my books, my speaking, my coaching and my teaching.
It shaped The Connection Code™, influenced The Jigsaw Approach™, and quietly became the thread running through everything I create.
Eventually, I realised it had a name.
The Campfire.
The Connection Code™
The Connection Code™ has never just been about dogs.
It’s about creating the environment where connection becomes possible.
The environment comes first.
Safety comes second.
Curiosity comes third.
Reflection comes fourth.
Change comes last.
People rarely change because somebody gives them the perfect answer.
They change because they finally feel safe enough to discover something for themselves.
The Campfire is the environment that makes that possible.
It’s where The Connection Code™ comes to life.

How it shapes the way I teach
The campfire changes everything about the way I work.
I don’t believe learning has to feel intimidating.
I don’t believe people need to be overwhelmed with information.
I don’t believe perfection creates progress.
Instead, I try to create spaces where people can notice things for themselves.
Where questions matter as much as answers.
Where stories teach as much as instruction.
Where reflection is valued more than perfection.
Where people leave seeing something differently than when they arrived.
Everything I create is designed to be grown with.
Not simply consumed, but returned to, reflected on and experienced over time.
Curious about how this philosophy becomes practical?

The community around the campfire
The best conversations happen when everyone brings something different to the fire.
That’s the kind of community I want to create.
I’ll bring my lived experience.
My professional knowledge.
The ideas I’m exploring.
The questions I’m still asking.
You bring your experiences.
Your perspective.
Your questions.
Your story.
Together, we’ll notice more than either of us could alone.
If that sounds like the kind of community you’ve been looking for, I’d love to welcome you.
An invitation
If you’ve found this page, perhaps something here has resonated with you.
Perhaps you’ve been looking for a place where curiosity matters more than certainty.
Where stories are welcomed.
Where questions are encouraged.
Where connection comes before perfection.
If so…
Come and sit around the campfire with me.
Bring your curiosity.
Let’s explore together.
The conversation is just getting started…
